HYLA is made for everyday cleaning. Sometimes a larger piece of debris gets picked up and slows the airflow. HYLA gives you a practical way to clear the restriction using the system’s airflow.
If your HYLA is running but not picking up like it should—or it feels like it has no suction—this guide shows you how to find the restriction and clear it.
Want the quickest walkthrough? Watch the video first. Then use the photos and steps below as your guide.
Watch: How to Unclog Your HYLA Hose
The video shows the Ventus setup and the HYLA airflow method. The written steps below are a companion to what you see on screen.
First Confirm the Restriction Is in the Hose
Before you work on the hose, check the Ventus setup in four quick places.
1. Take the Ventus setup apart
Separate the Ventus head, electro wands, and hose so each part is easy to check.

2. Check both electro wands
Look through each tube separately and make sure the pathway is clear.

3. Check the Ventus neck and airway
Lower the neck and look through the opening. Make sure nothing is caught inside.

4. Check underneath the Ventus
Turn the head over and check the brush area and underside for anything blocking the path.

Please: When working with the Ventus, turn HYLA off and disconnect power before checking underneath the head or touching the brush area.
If the electro wands, Ventus neck, and underside are clear, move on to the hose.
How to Check and Clear Your HYLA Hose
Once the Ventus head and electro wands are clear, move to the hose. This setup uses HYLA airflow in both directions to help work a stubborn restriction loose.
1. Get HYLA ready. Fill the water pan to the marked level, seat it correctly, and lock the motor unit in place.
2. Open the rear exhaust. Go to the back of HYLA and find the rear exhaust cover—the grille on the back of the machine.
Press the release tab and remove the cover to expose the rear exhaust opening.

Rear exhaust opening with the cover removed.
3. Set up the reverse airflow. With HYLA off, place the hose end that normally connects to the machine into the rear exhaust opening.
Place the handle end—the end that normally connects to the electro wands—into the HYLA front intake.
Keep the HYLA Flexible Electro Hose EST and its electrical contacts dry.

Reverse-airflow setup: rear exhaust to front intake.
4. Turn HYLA on and let the airflow work. Air now moves from the rear exhaust through the hose and back into the HYLA front intake.
Let it run briefly, then check the water pan for anything the airflow released.
5. Work a stubborn blockage back and forth. If the restriction does not clear, turn HYLA off before changing the connections.
Remove the hose from the rear exhaust and reconnect the machine end to the front intake in its normal vacuuming position. Run normal suction briefly.
Turn HYLA off again, return to the reverse-airflow setup, and repeat. Alternating normal suction and reverse airflow helps move the obstruction until it releases.
6. Finish and reconnect. When the airflow sounds open again, turn HYLA off, replace the rear exhaust cover, and reconnect the hose, electro wands, and Ventus head for normal cleaning.
Use HYLA Airflow to Clear the Ventus Head
If the Ventus head is still blocked after the quick inspection above, HYLA airflow gives you two ways to work it loose.
Ventus — SUCK
Connect the Ventus in its normal cleaning setup so airflow pulls through the head.
Turn on HYLA.
This can draw a loose restriction back through the cleaning path.

Ventus — BLOW
Connect the hose to the rear exhaust and connect the Ventus head at the other end.
Turn on HYLA.
HYLA airflow moves outward through the head and can release hair and loose debris.

Use HYLA Airflow to Clear the Standard Tubes
The same HYLA airflow also gives you two useful ways to clear the standard tubes.
Tube — SUCK
Place the open tube directly at the HYLA front intake.
Turn on HYLA.
HYLA airflow can pull a loose restriction through the tube.

Tube — BLOW
Connect the hose to the rear exhaust and connect the hose handle to the blocked tube.
Turn on HYLA.
HYLA airflow pushes through the tube from the other direction.

Why Is the Red Light On My HYLA Ventus?
HYLA is designed for real-life cleaning. If something jams the Ventus brush, the built-in protection stops the brush motor and the red indicator shows you where to look.
GREEN
Ventus operating normally.

RED
Brush motor stopped to avoid overload.

If the Ventus Light Turns Red
1. Park the Ventus upright. Bring the Ventus head to its upright locked position.
2. Turn HYLA off.
3. Unplug HYLA.
4. Clear the obstruction. Check the brush area and underside, and remove anything caught in the Ventus head.
5. Plug HYLA back in and restart.
If the red indicator returns after the obstruction is cleared, contact HYLA North America.
Why a HYLA Hose Can Become Restricted
Small objects can lodge at a bend or connection point inside the hose.
Hair, lint, and loose fibers can collect around that catch point, so a restriction can feel sudden even when the material built up over several cleaning sessions.
Before each cleaning pass, pick up coins, small toys, bottle caps, and other objects that are too large for the hose.

Know Which HYLA Hose You’re Clearing
The HYLA Flexible Electro Hose EST used with the Ventus setup has red clips. The Flexible Non-Electric Hose EST has black clips.
The reverse-airflow method above works with either hose, so the clearing sequence stays the same even though the hose setup is different.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the reverse-airflow method work for both HYLA EST hoses?
The reverse-airflow setup can be used with both the HYLA Flexible Electro Hose EST and the Flexible Non-Electric Hose EST. HYLA airflow can also be directed through the electro wands, tubes, and non-electric attachments when clearing a restriction. Keep the HYLA Flexible Electro Hose EST and its electrical contacts dry.
Why is my HYLA Ventus power head not working?
If the Ventus stops and the indicator turns red, bring the head to its upright park position, turn HYLA off, unplug HYLA, and check the brush area for a visible obstruction. A red indicator points to the Ventus brush motor protection—it does not identify a hose blockage.
Can I rinse the HYLA Flexible Electro Hose EST?
No. The HYLA Flexible Electro Hose EST is for dry use only and contains electrical connections. Keep it dry; do not rinse or immerse it.
Why is my HYLA not picking up or losing suction?
Start with the airflow path. Check the Ventus head and electro wands first, then the hose. If the head and tubes are clear, use the reverse-airflow steps above to clear the hose. If pickup is still weak afterward, contact HYLA North America for the next service step.
Where can I buy a HYLA hose in the USA?
HYLA North America is the Official Authorized Master Importer of HYLA for the U.S. and Canada. Genuine replacement hoses and other HYLA parts are available through the HYLA North America online shop. For the Ventus setup, choose the HYLA Flexible Electro Hose EST; for non-electric attachments, choose the Flexible Non-Electric Hose EST. HYLA North America can also help you confirm the right hose before you order.
